FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Two hospitals in North Dakota have begun offering a children’s television channel that highlights animals at the San Diego Zoo.

Patients of the Sanford Medical Centers in Bismarck and Fargo can now watch the San Diego Zoo Kids channel during their stays at the facilities. The closed-circuit television network for children’s hospitals features a variety of animals, interviews with animal keepers, live feeds from the zoo’s animal cams and other special shows.

Dr. Craig Lambrecht is president of Sanford Health Bismarck. He says the channel will offer patients a chance “to feel an escape from the hospital reality.” He says it will be a distraction tool for patients and “little kids particularly will enjoy it.”

The channel launched in seven locations in 2014 and is now expanding across the country.
