LILBURN, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are working to identify a body that was removed from the Yellow River in Gwinnett County.

Gwinnett County police said in a statement that a kayaker reported the body in the water Saturday afternoon about 40 to 50 feet from the riverbank.

Police and Gwinnett County swift water rescue teams spent about an hour working to remove the body from the river.

Police have identified the body as a male and authorities have said the victim’s age and race haven’t been determined.

Authorities say the body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office.
