CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Police are pressing criminal charges against a man who jumped the perimeter fence at Charlotte Douglas International Airport with a weapon.

Multiple media organizations report that 36-year-old Jovany Castillo Lugo is charged with trespassing on airport property and carrying a concealed weapon.

Officials say Lugo showed up in an airport concourse early Friday and told officials he had been shot at by two people. Lugo said he climbed the fence to get away from the shooters. Police said Lugo was not shot.

Officers found him carrying a box cutter.

Investigators interviewed his female companion, who told police the pair had used drugs earlier in the day and went to the airport to catch a flight to Texas.
