MERIDIAN, Idaho (AP) - Meridian police say a man apparently impersonated a police officer when he stopped and questioned two teens.

The mother of a 13-year-old boy contacted authorities on Saturday night. The teen told officers he was with a 14-year-old friend when they were approached by an adult man who identified himself as a law enforcement officer.

Police say the man asked the boys if they had been out stealing or causing problems, and he took a picture of the 13-year-old’s school ID card.

The boys said the man may have been driving a Jeep Wrangler.

Authorities ask anyone with information to call Meridian police.
