HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) - The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says a corporal who was fired over domestic violence allegations is now facing criminal charges.

Jonathan Christensen turned himself in on Sunday, two days after a grand jury indicted him on charges of coercion, official misconduct, assault and strangulation.

The sheriff’s office says Christensen was fired in August after 16 years on the job.

According to his termination letter, a former romantic partner was granted a restraining order against Christensen. The woman said he grabbed her hair, shoved her against a wall and grabbed her around the neck when she tried to end the relationship in March.

The woman was apparently a sheriff’s office employee. Christensen was barred from being within 200 feet of the sheriff’s office or jail.

Attorneys for Christensen and Christensen’s union did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
