DETROIT (AP) - Authorities say a man and woman died in a house fire on Detroit’s east side that may be connected to an earlier dispute.

The fire is being investigated as possible arson and was reported about 2 a.m. Monday.

The Detroit News reports another person in the home also was injured. Arson Captain Pat McNulty tells the newspaper that there was “an altercation” Sunday night about the man who died and a woman who is the mother of his child. Investigators are seeking the woman.

McNulty says an unknown accelerant was thrown through a first-floor window. He says the three people in the home were in their 20s.

He says police were called about the earlier dispute and threats were made. McNulty says the person who survived was in serious condition.
