SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) - Residents in western Nebraska are bracing for a blast of wintry weather this week.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Nebraska Panhandle through Wednesday afternoon. The warning includes the cities of Scottsbluff and Gering, Chadron, Alliance, Bayard, Kimball and Sidney.

The service says a Pacific storm system will first move into southeast Wyoming late Monday, then into western Nebraska overnight.

The system is expected to drop up to six inches of snow in some areas Tuesday and into Wednesday. Winds of up to 25 mph are expected to cut visibility dramatically and make driving conditions dangerous.
