GRIFFIN, Ga. (AP) - Authorities have identified three people killed in a Spalding County house fire.

The Spalding County Coroner’s Office identified the three as 82-year-old Andrew Foster; 75-year-old Mary Fears; and 54-year-old Terry Jones.

Griffin Fire Chief Tommy Jones told local media that Jones was the son of Fears, and went back to the home to try to rescue her and Foster in the Saturday night fire. The fire chief said Jones later died at a hospital.

The fire chief tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that it appears the blaze started in a back bedroom, but the cause is unclear.

The chief says the house was equipped with smoke detectors and the home sustained major damage.
