SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Police are looking for an unidentified man who they say pulled a knife on a security guard and escaped after he was questioned about a theft at a western Massachusetts mall over the weekend.

The Republican of Springfield reports (https://bit.ly/1IPqsFY ) the incident occurred Saturday at the Macy’s store in Springfield’s Eastfield Mall.

Police say the suspect stole $500 in jewelry from Macy’s and pulled a knife on the department store’s guard when he was questioned about the theft.

Springfield police posted a photo of the wanted man on their Facebook page and are asking the public’s help in identifying him. The suspect is described as a white man of medium build with dark hair and a scruffy beard. Police say he’s about 30 years old.
