HEBER, Ariz. (AP) - A Texas woman is in custody after seven pounds of heroin was found in the car she was driving in eastern Arizona.

Navajo County Sheriff’s officials say 39-year-old Dora Elizabeth Arteaga, of Houston, remained held Monday on a $500,000 cash bond.

They say Arteaga was booked Saturday into the County Jail Annex in Show Low on suspicion of transportation of a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy stopped Arteaga for speeding near Heber and says she appeared nervous during questioning.

She consented to a search of her vehicle and the deputy reported finding several suspicious packages in the back seat.

Sheriff’s officials say heroin was found inside the packages and Arteaga was arrested.

Authorities didn’t know Monday if she has a lawyer.
