GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tusculum has hired former Jacksonville University assistant Jerry Odom as its head football coach.

Odom spent the last six years as an associate head coach at Jacksonville. Odom helped run the defense of a Jacksonville program that went 47-19 during his six seasons.

Odom was associate head coach and special teams coordinator of the Arena Football League’s Philadelphia Soul from 2008-09. He went 22-12 as the head coach at Coffee County High School in Douglas, Georgia, from 2005-07. Odom also has worked as an assistant coach at Florida (2000-02) and East Carolina (2003-05).

Odom replaces Frankie DeBusk, who went 96-100 in 18 seasons at this Division II program. DeBusk also was Tusculum’s athletic director from 2007 through August 2015. Tusculum announced DeBusk’s exit on Dec. 1.
