BLOOMFIELD, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say they’re investigating the death of a man in rural Davis County as a homicide.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety on Tuesday announced investigators have identified the victim as 39-year-old Michael Thomas Goodwin Sr., of Bloomfield.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation began assisting the Davis County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, when deputies checked on the welfare of a person and found the dead man.

An autopsy was performed and authorities ruled the death a homicide, but they’re not releasing the cause of death.

Investigators haven’t made any arrests in the case.
