SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Charges have been dismissed against a Shreveport man accused in a 35-year-old cold case.

KSLA-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1QI2jlV ) a Caddo Parish grand jury last week did not find sufficient evidence to formally charge 62-year-old Jimmy Lee Tigues in the 1980 death of 29-year-old Robert Earl French.

Tigues was arrested on second-degree murder charges in September for his alleged involvement in the crime.

French’s body was found in a street by a passing motorist early Aug. 1, 1980. He had been shot multiple times in what authorities described as a drug-related crime.

On Dec. 10, the grand jury returned a no-true bill in the case and Tigues was released the next day after being held for the past three months.

The French homicide remains under investigation.
