STERLING, Colo. (AP) - A husband and wife from Logan County are facing first-degree murder charges after a woman’s body was found in the South Platte River north of Sterling.

The Sterling Journal-Advocate reports (https://goo.gl/KYHSEm ) 28-year-old Dezerae Riemenschneider and her husband, 34-year-old Vernon Riemenschneider, were arrested Monday in the death of Kshena Andersen. The couple are being held in the Logan County jail without bail.

Sheriff’s deputies found Andersen’s body near County Road 34 on Sunday, and an autopsy shows she died from gunshot wounds.

Lt. Joe McBride says the woman had been living in Sterling, and investigators are looking into her history.

An employee who answered the phone at the jail Tuesday night said he could not say whether the Riemenschneiders have hired an attorney.
