ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Some New Mexico schools are closed as roads remain icy because of a storm system that’s starting to move out of the state.

Santa Fe’s public school system announced it was closing all of its schools Tuesday. The Albuquerque district’s East Mountain schools also are closed.

The closures were announced after officials initially ordered two-hour delays in school openings.

The National Weather Service says snow showers will continue in the northern mountains into Tuesday night but skies are generally clearing and are to be partly to mostly cloudy elsewhere.

Strong west winds are expected to produce low wind-chill readings in the single digits and middle teens.
