NAUGATUCK, Conn. (AP) - A worker has died in a construction accident at a high school in Connecticut.

The accident happened at Naugatuck High School Wednesday afternoon at around 1:30 p.m. Workers there had been removing trees around the parking lot of the school.

Police tell WSFB-TV (https://bit.ly/1I9LNKr) the worker, who has not been identified but was in his 30s, appears to have been working an excavator when he was somehow crushed.

The victim was removed from the vehicle and rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Police say no other workers were injured and no school staff or students were involved. Police, fire officials and representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were on scene investigating.

Naugatuck is a town located directly south of Waterbury.
