MIDLOTHIAN, Va. (AP) - Police say a Chesterfield County officer and a suspect were taken to a hospital following a crash that ended a two-county chase.

Chesterfield County police told media outlets that the chase began around 6:55 a.m. Wednesday in Amelia County. The suspect’s vehicle crossed into neighboring Chesterfield County and entered the parking lot at Cosby High School in Midlothian.

It wasn’t immediately clear what prompted the chase.

Police say the suspect’s vehicle hit a Chesterfield County officer’s vehicle while trying to exit the parking lot. The suspect and the officer were taken to area hospitals for evaluation.

The Chesterfield County school division said in a statement given to parents that the incident occurred before students arrived for class. No students were involved or injured.
