SAUGUS, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts couple has been sentenced to prison for providing alcohol to dozens of minors at a house party in 2013.

John and Josephine Penza were sentenced last week to nine months in prison after a jury found them guilty of furnishing alcohol to minors, the Essex District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.

The Saugus couple, who are both in their 50s, will serve 30 days in prison with the balance suspended for two years. The charges stem from an Aug. 18, 2013 party in which Saugus Police say they found about 70 minors, including a highly intoxicated 16-year-old girl who was taken to the hospital.

John Penza is an Everett High School teacher; Josephine Penza teaches at a Medford elementary school. Their lawyer didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
