LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Two people have been killed after a truck rear-ended their car and pushed it into the path of another truck in Woodruff County.

An Arkansas State Police report says 72-year-old Brenda Dawson and 42-year-old Jeffrey Dawson of Newport were traveling west on U.S. 64 around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when their car was struck as it turned into a business. It was pushed into the eastbound lane and collided with a Peterbilt truck.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Jeffrey Dawson, who was in the passenger seat, died at the scene. Brenda Dawson was taken to a Memphis hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A 64-year-old man driving the Peterbilt truck was taken to a Wynne hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.

Police say the roads were clear and dry at the time of the accident.
