SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a female Syracuse University student.

Police say Dominick Kelly of Syracuse entered the student’s apartment near the university around 6 a.m. Monday, struggled with the victim, and stabbed her in the upper back with an unknown object.

Kelly then stole a wallet and took off.

Police say the victim was sent to Upstate University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kelly is facing charges of burglary, assault, grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon. He was awaiting arraignment Wednesday evening at Onondaga County Justice Center.

Kelly was arrested by members of the department’s crime reduction team, but investigators have not said how officers found Kelly or why they suspect him of the crime.
