ATLANTA (AP) - Police say a former Morris Brown College campus chief of police accused of posing as an officer has been arrested.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported (https://on-ajc.com/1ZeBY1R ) Thursday that 63-year-old Jabir Nejee Bashir is charged with two counts of impersonating a police officer, possession of a fake ID and driving on a suspended license. Bashir was arrested Sunday.

Smyrna police say Bashir identified himself as chief of police at Morris Brown. But an arrest warrant says that particular police department was disbanded and no longer exists.

The warrant says Morris Brown currently uses a private security firm. The warrant says the arresting officer verified that Bashir’s police certification was current.

But the warrant also says Bashir stated he had been inactive for the past seven years because of an investigation and bankruptcy.
