CHESHIRE, Mass. (AP) - Several people have been hurt after a transit bus hit a van and then crashed into a house in the Berkshires.

A Massachusetts State Police spokesman says the crash happened at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday on Route 8 in the town of Cheshire.

He says a Berkshire Regional Transit Authority bus and a van were involved in the initial collision and then the bus crashed into a nearby home.

At least one person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

State police are on the scene investigating. The section of Route 8, which runs from the Connecticut line north to Vermont, was temporarily shut after the accident but has since reopened.
