NORTHFIELD, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man who was critically injured in a Northfield apartment blaze that killed his girlfriend says three suspects broke into his home and set him on fire.

Police arrested 32-year-old Howard Hoisington, 45-year-old Tammy Wilder and 33-year-old Jonathan Zampieri, all of Montpelier, were arrested this week in connection with the fire investigation.

Twenty-six-year-old Efren Serrano was seriously injured in the Dec. 13 fire that also killed 22-year-old Brittany Burt. Officials said Burt dies of smoke inhalation.

Court documents say Serrano claims the three poured gasoline on him and lit him on fire. An informant described the alleged attack as drug-related.

The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/1RpgzBP ) Zampieri’s lawyer says his client plans to plead not guilty if he’s formally charged. Lawyers for the other two declined to comment.
