FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A man involved in the death of a Fort Collins woman who was beaten, stabbed and dumped in rural Larimer County has been sentenced to 75 years in prison.

The Coloradoan reports (https://goo.gl/TXb7US ) 46-year-old Michael Benson was sentenced Thursday for the October 2014 death of 28-year-old Andrea Bartmess. He was the first of five suspects to be sentenced.

Prosecutors say Bartmess went to a Fort Collins home to buy drugs Oct. 7. She was then kidnapped and beaten in a car with a collapsible baton, driven to a barn northwest of the city, bound, choked and stomped on.

Benson said during Thursday’s hearing, “I didn’t do most of what they’re saying. But I did do plenty.”

He pleaded guilty to murder, kidnapping and criminal trespass charges.
