ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. (AP) - Police say a man died after he cut his leg while doing construction work at his northern home.

Englewood Cliffs Police Chief Michael Cioffi tells The Record (https://bit.ly/1OyB4G2 ) 59-year-old William Wong was cutting a pipe on Wednesday with a saw-like tool when he cut his left thigh near his groin.

Cioffi says construction workers he hired to help him had told him to stop.

Emergency responders took him to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Wong’s exact cause of death wasn’t immediately known, but Cioffi says he was bleeding “very profusely.”

Police and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
