PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a 35-year-old man out walking his two dogs has been shot and killed in west Philadelphia.

Chief Inspector Scott Small tells The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1RTcWTO ) it happened at about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Small says the man was walking with his two Chihuahuas when a gunman opened fire, shooting him in the neck, chest, back, arms and legs. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities didn’t immediately identify the victim. Small says the man was a block from his home when he was shot.

The shooter is described as a man in a gray hoodie and orange hat who jumped into the passenger seat of a silver minivan that took off.

The dogs are in the care of a neighbor.
