MADERA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a Central California woman charged with murdering her daughter and torturing her son could face the death penalty.

The Fresno Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1Ib2ipv ) Thursday that Madera County District Attorney David Linn says the woman’s husband is also facing charges related to the death and cover up.

The 42-year-old Madera Ranchos woman was charged with murdering her 12-year-old daughter. She is also charged with torturing the girl and two of her siblings. She was arrested in November. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Her husband is on administrative leave from his job as a San Joaquin County sheriff’s deputy. Linn says he is expected to be charged with several felonies.

San Joaquin County sheriff’s spokesman Les Garcia declined to comment on the employee, saying it was a personnel issue.
