PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island’s unemployment rate dropped slightly to 5.2 percent in November, down one-tenth of a percentage point since the previous month.

The state’s unemployment rate, released Thursday, is still slightly higher than the national unemployment rate of 5 percent.

But the rate is a drop of 1.7 percentage points from November 2014. It’s the lowest unemployment has been in the state for more than eight years, since July 2007.

The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training says the state has added 8,000 jobs since November 2014.

The drop comes even as the state’s labor force is growing. The DLT says the labor force was up to 555,600 last month, up 5,900 from the previous year.
