ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (AP) - A man accused of opening fire on Carter County’s authorities, wounding two people, including a deputy, has been found in a cave near the eastern Tennessee home where shots had been exchanged.

Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford tells local media outlets that the suspect was outside a Stoney Creek area residence when he fired about 30 to 40 shots at Lunceford and the three deputies who had arrived Wednesday night to investigate a report of an intoxicated man waving a gun.

Lunceford says Deputy Jenna Markland was graved on the side of her forehead and above her mouth by two bullets. He says an unidentified woman was shot in the hand.

The suspect, who Lunceford has not identified, was captured without incident early Thursday in a nearby cave.
