ATLANTA (AP) - The state agency overseeing Georgia’s Pre-K system is asking for teacher of the year nominations.

Department of Early Care and Learning Commissioner Amy Jacobs says the award is a small way to recognize teachers’ efforts.

Nominations must come from a project director or a teacher. Applications are available on the agency’s website.

Two winners will be chosen - one from a public school system and one from a private child care center. Teachers must have at least three years of experience leading a pre-K classroom in Georgia and meet other requirements.
