BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Stillwater Mining Co. says union members at the company’s East Boulder Mine south of Big Timber have ratified a four-year contract.

Stillwater Chief Executive Michael McMullen said in a statement that the deal includes no increase in base wages for the first two years for about 320 workers.

Stillwater operates the only two platinum and palladium mines in the United States.

Company spokeswoman Jennifer Lawson says union leaders have requested renewed negotiations on a separate contract covering the Stillwater Mine near Nye.

The company in August announced it was laying off 119 employees at the Stillwater Mine. It also put into effect a contract for the mine that workers had twice rejected.

Former Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer chairs the company’s board of directors.
