CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Officials say one resident and one firefighter were taken to a hospital after an overnight fire tore through a multi-family home in Cranston.

The blaze started at about 2 a.m. on Friday. Flames could be seen pouring from windows and roof of the building at the height of the fire.

One resident was treated for burns and a firefighter was injured after a portion of a ceiling fell on him.

The Red Cross is helping several residents who escaped the flames but were left homeless.
