LOCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they’ve charged four men with pulling off more than 30 burglaries at homes across a four-county region in western New York.

Police say most of the crimes were committed during the past year in Erie County, with others occurring in Niagara, Genesee and Wyoming counties.

The Erie and Niagara county sheriff’s offices and state police say the burglars would snatch such items as jewelry, firearms and electronics, then sell them for drugs. Officials say they’ve recovered more than 1,300 items but much more is believed to have been sold.

Some of the stolen property was found stashed at a home in North Tonawanda.

Police have charged three men in their 40s and a 25-year-old man. All four are being held in the Erie County Holding Center.
