GROTON, Conn. (AP) - A U.S. Navy attack submarine has returned to the base in Groton, Connecticut, following a six-month deployment.

The USS Hartford stopped in Faslane, Scotland, and Rota, Spain, as it conducted security operations in the European Command area of responsibility.

Family members of the roughly 130 crew members greeted the sailors and officers as the nuclear-powered vessel arrived Friday at Naval Submarine Base New London.

The Los Angeles-class submarine was commissioned in 1994 and is the second ship in the Navy to be named for Connecticut’s capital city.
