INWOOD, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island have identified the driver and passenger killed in a fiery crash involving a garbage truck last month.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/1Paqh7z ) Nassau County police said Thursday that 20-year-old Gbolahan Egberongbe and 27-year-old Devon Grenada died in the Nov. 28 crash.

Authorities say the early morning crash in Inwood happened when the BMW they were in collided with a garbage truck.

The collision sparked a fire that engulfed both vehicles.

Both people were pronounced dead at the scene. The garbage truck driver was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

Police say the severity of the victims’ burns caused the delay in identifying them.
