FRANKLIN, La. (AP) - City employees in Franklin will have their salaries cut by 5 percent starting Feb. 1.

KATC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1RUCsbw ) Franklin Mayor Raymond Harris said the pay cuts - which include the mayor and department heads - are in response to a sharp decline in sales tax revenue over the past 13 months.

Harris says revenue is down 19 percent.

The city employs between 95 and 100 people.

Harris said Thursday that since the cut won’t occur until February, hopefully that will give employees enough time to make any necessary budget adjustments.
