ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A judge has put a gag order on the case of a 14-year-old Pennsylvania girl accused of plotting with her soldier boyfriend to kill her mother.

The (Allentown) Morning Call reports (https://bit.ly/1IdUoMe ) Judge Maria Dantos on Friday also refused to step aside in the case.

Jamie Silvonek’s lawyer had petitioned for Dantos to recuse herself, saying a 37-page opinion she wrote last month shows Dantos has already decided his client is guilty.

Prosecutors requested the gag order, saying pretrial publicity could taint the jury pool.

Silvonek is accused of conspiring with 21-year-old Army Spc. Caleb Barnes via text messages to kill her mother in the driveway of her home near Allentown.

Police say 54-year-old Cheryl Silvonek was beaten, choked and stabbed in her SUV in March after returning from a concert with the two.
