DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The publisher of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier has been named publisher of the Mason City Globe Gazette.

Lee Enterprises said Friday that David Braton succeeds Howard Query, who died in September. Braton was serving as interim publisher for the Mason City newspaper.

The announcement means the 64-year-old Braton will oversee both operations.

Braton joined Lee in 1999 as director of sales for The Bismarck Tribune in North Dakota. He became general manager of the Beatrice Daily Sun in Nebraska in 2003 and publisher of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier in 2008.
