ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. (AP) - A 59-year-old man has died after he cut his leg with a power tool while doing construction at his northern New Jersey home earlier this week.

The Record newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/1OyB4G2 ) William Wong was pronounced dead Wednesday.

Police say he had hired workers to help him demolish and rebuild his Englewood Cliffs home. Police Chief Michael Cioffi says he was often hands-on with the construction even though the workers told him to stop.

Cioffi says Wong was cutting a pipe with an angle grinder around noon when he cut his left thigh near his groin. Emergency responders were there in less than two minutes, but Cioffi says he bled profusely.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and police are investigating, but Cioffi says it doesn’t appear to be a crime.
