TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man was sentenced to five years in state prison for paying a $10,000 bribe to a Casino Reinvestment Development Authority official.

Superior court Judge Donna Taylor sentenced 70-year-old Anthony Christaldi on Friday.

The attorney general’s office says Christaldi was found guilty on a second-degree bribery charge in October after he contacted the development authority in January 2014 seeking an expedited sale of property he owned.

He sent $1,000 cash and a note saying if a sales price of $105,000 were approved, he would pay the official an additional $9,000.

The official reported the bribe immediately.

Christaldi was arrested after delivering $9,000 on Jan. 16, 2014, to an undercover detective he believed was the official’s brother.

Christaldi’s attorney did not immediately reply to a message seeking comment.
