LATHAM, N.Y. (AP) - New York state’s public high school basketball championship tournament for boys is moving.

The executive committee of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association on Friday approved the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton as host of the boys’ event for three years starting in 2017.

Glens Falls, which has had the tournament for 35 years, will host it in 2016.

The 22-member committee also unanimously approved Union-Endicott High School as host of the 2017 NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Cicero-North Syracuse High School will host it in 2016, 2018 and 2020, and Middletown High School in 2019.

NYSPHSAA Executive Director Robert Zayas says the bidding process is focused on providing all 11 sections in the state with the chance to host championships “in a fair and transparent fashion.”
