OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has rejected the appeal of a man sentenced to life in prison for killing his mother.

The court on Friday rejected the appeal of 33-year-old William Wilkerson, who was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2012 stabbing death of 57-year-old Susan Wilkerson in Mayes County.

Wilkerson asked that the court modify his sentence to life with the possibility of parole and that all but the first 20 years of his sentence be suspended.

The appeals court wrote that the life without parole sentence is supported by the facts in the case and is within the range of punishment allowed by law.
