NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a woman they say sprayed mace on people inside a laundromat in Newport News.

Police spokesman Lewis Thurston tells the Daily Press (https://bit.ly/1mr6c3K ) 27-year-old Angel Shanae Kelly was booked Wednesday morning on two counts of assault following Tuesday’s incident.

Thurston says the woman and her boyfriend were arguing inside the Scrub-A-Dub Tuesday afternoon before she sprayed him with mace. Another customer attempted to intervene and was sprayed as well. Thurston says three other people were affected by the mace.

Thurston says by the time officers arrived, the suspect had already left the scene.

Officers later obtained warrants for Kelly’s arrest.

It isn’t clear if Kelly has an attorney for comment.
