PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Portland Timbers have traded midfielder Will Johnson to Toronto FC for allocation money and a 2017 draft pick.

Johnson spent three seasons with the Timbers, scoring 15 goals with seven assists over 69 regular-season matches. He was an All-Star for the Timbers in 2013 and 2014.

Johnson, who is a Toronto native, broke his right leg late in the 2014 season and appeared in 12 games, all starts, for the Timbers this season. He also played for the Canadian national team and played in four qualifying matches for the 2018 World Cup.

Portland defeated the Columbus Crew earlier this month for the MLS Cup championship.

Terms of the deal were not released.
