REDMOND, Ore. (AP) - A Deschutes County grand jury has indicted a Redmond man in connection to the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old woman.

KTVZ-TV reports (https://is.gd/kjGnIE ) that 23-year-old Mario Morataya has been indicted on charges of aggravated murder, attempted kidnapping and unlawful use of a weapon in the killing of Rebekah Gomes.

Officers found Gomes lying in the roadway Dec. 11. She had been shot in the back and later died at a hospital.

Police say she was shot as she fled from the man she was trying to break up with.

Morataya is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
