ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) - The organizers of George First Friday Streetfest say the monthly festival in downtown St. George will continue uninterrupted despite a state fraud investigation of the event’s insurance coverage.

Utah Insurance Department fraud division director Armand Glick contacted Emceesquare Media and Events, the hosts of Streetfest, in connection to the insurance investigation.

According to Glick, the department believes Emceesquare Media may have committed forgery, theft by deception and communications fraud.

Emceesquare President Melynda Thorpe says she is saddened with the news of the investigation and that they are cooperating fully.

In order to operate, Emceesquare needs insurance coverage for the organization and all participating vendors. According to court documents, Streetfest did not have insurance for September and the October certificates were false.
