DEER PARK, N.Y. (AP) - The Force couldn’t be awakened at a screening of the new Star Wars film in suburban New York.

Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1Ymnct3 ) reports that a projection malfunction with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” halted the film about midway through a 7:10 p.m. showing Thursday and never resumed.

Patrons at the Regal Deer Park Stadium complex were given free tickets to another showing.

Others were able to catch the film at other theaters in the cinema complex.

The newspaper reports that most patrons seemed to be understanding about the technical glitch.
