FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is teaching people how to safely handle and bag pythons.

The Fort Myers News-Press (https://newspr.es/1k8DyT4 ) reports that wildlife officers are educating people about the snakes in advance of Florida’s annual python hunt in January.

The hunt was created to limit the number of the non-native and invasive pythons in South Florida.

Wildlife officers conducted a seminar in python handling on Thursday in Collier County and plan to hold a similar class in Olga on Sunday.
