CHESTER, S.C. (AP) - A judge is moving the trial of a man charged with killing a Chester City Councilman to a neighboring county.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports (https://bit.ly/1NBVjTd ) that a judge ruled Friday that 19-year-old Christopher Moore will be tried before a Fairfield County jury.

Circuit Judge Brian Gibbons’ order came the day after hearing arguments from Moore’s lawyer that Moore couldn’t get a fair trial in Chester County because of intense media coverage.

Authorities say Moore shot 69=year-old Councilman Odell Williams in November 2014 after the councilman followed him and four other gang members because he heard they planned a robbery.

A date for Moore’s trial has not been set, although prosecutors say they can have the case ready to go in six months.
