OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The Omaha Professional Fire Fighters Association will again wrap and deliver donated toys to patients at Omaha Children’s Hospital and Medical Center later this month.

It’s the seventh straight year the firefighters union has done so. The effort is led by Omaha Firefighter Ryan Loewenstein in honor of his son, Easton, who died in 2008 before his second birthday.

Loewenstein coordinates the program each year for children spending the holidays in the hospital and are unable to be home for the holidays.

Members of the community were asked to donate new, unwrapped gifts to the effort. This year, approximately $3,000 worth of toys were donated.

Firefighters will volunteer their time to wrap the toys on Saturday, and then deliver the gifts to the hospital.
